Pero yung sa duration ang ilalagay ko kung kailan ako na hire up to present?

Then per designation accompanied by 5 duties? or pati duration, salary and working hours seperated per position?

subukan ko kung makakahingi ako. pero wala ganun dito samin e. hahaha Naka reflect lang sa COE. Nag rerequest kasi ako yearly pang personal copy. hehe

Oo, nasa Perth na ako since 2014. Finishing my PhD here and will soon try my luck for PR as well. Still trying to get all the documents ready for assessment though.

@purplehaze ang alam ko last time west australia but kelangan ng job offer. Sa NSW pued ma invite kahit wala sa occupation list nila yung chemist. Check NSW state sponsorship under stream 2.

Hello there! another chemist here trying my luck...erm that's not too scientific so let me rephrase that. another chemist here exploring my options for a rewarding career in the land down under.

i had my VETASSESS Skills Assessment in August 2016 and got a positive result. i was confident that i will get points from my work experience as a QA Analyst and Lab Supervisor. sadly, they did not recognise both. instead of the 8+ years of experience, they only recognised 6 years. and that meant 5 points less. i could've filed for a reassessment but the cost is half the amount for a full assessment! my agent told me to take the PTE first and aim for Superior English proficiency before we consider reassessment. needless to say, i'm not happy with the assessment and was discouraged to pursue the Australian dream.

fast forward to Jan 2017, i had done nothing to move my dream closer to reality. then, i got laid off due to a massive restructuring in our organisation.

now, I'm decided more than ever to take all the steps necessary to secure that elusive dream. and i'm glad to have found a few of you here who are in the same journey.

i've booked my PTE-A exam on 8 March.

important lesson learned on the skills assessment, make sure that your job description or job responsibilities accurately reflect what you do as a Chemist. it's very important that it closely matches the ANZSCO definition. i realized too late that some of the duties that HR listed in my COE for lab analyst and lab supervisor roles were very generic, and some even administrative in nature. make sure you highlight the tasks that resonate with theANZSCO definition.

Hi @Ozlaz! Unfortunately, our chemist license is not recognized here in Oz. However, if you want to be a chartered chemist, there is a way. Also, plus points pa rin yung PRC license namin for Skills Assessment.

Hello! Wala pa din ako nagagawa since lumabas yung assessment ko last month. Naging busy sa work. hehehe Though meron na ako mga reviewer for PTE di ko pa nasisimulan mag review.

Diba nung nag paassess ka bitin din yung points mo? Balak ko sana sa august na mag EOI para makuha ko yung 5 yrs pero di na ako mag papassess ulit. Pwede naman yun diba? Pwede ko ba iclaim na 5yrs or ilagay ko lang kung ano yung assessment results ko tapos sila na mag aadjust ng points ko mag bibigay lang ako ng updated COE?

@cinnamonmama Hi! As per VETASSESS, all occupations in Group A (such as Chemist) require at least a qualification at an AQF Bachelor degree level and at least one year of employment (qualifying period), at the required level, post-qualification. In my case, my first year of employment was used to meet this qualifying period. Employment undertaken during the qualifying period cannot be assessed for points.

No matter how related your COE on ANZSCO definition, they will still deduct at least 1 year. Mine too were short to claim 5yrs exp. I dont have an agent but based on people I talked to in other threads, having 20pts for English proficiency is much better ticket than work expi.

it's been a long while since I last checked this forum. i got busy preparing for the PTE test.

@krizzymalasig i am aware that the first year of employment will be deducted from the total that's why I submitted 10+ years of experience. unfortunately, 3 years were not recognised. yes, i am that old! hehe! so now, I need to get 20 points for English proficiency to get 65 points for the EOI application. @markier87 I will apply for Victoria's state nomination.

the reason why I think the ANZSCO definition is critical in your job description for Skills Assessment is because Chemists should be doing independent scientific investigations using their knowledge of Chemistry, and not just performing tasks in an analytical laboratory, which may be the common tasks for a Chemical Technician, a job that is completely different. i was confident that my lab analyst and lab supervisor roles (3 years combined) will meet the definition of a Chemist because I was performing food chemistry analyses, laboratory and process investigations and method validation experiments but still they did not recognise my experience. when I reviewed it with a mentor, she mentioned it may have come across as a Chemical Technician job. i know it sounds unfair, but they are the authority and we have to understand how they work so we can adjust our approach. if you can get superior English proficiency and maximise your points from your work experience, all the better, isn't it?

someone sent me a PM asking for details of the JD I submitted for VETASSESS. i am posting a portion of my response in the hope that it would help others as well.

Based on the ANZSCO definition for Chemists, tasks Include:
-conducting experiments and tests to identify the chemical composition and reactive properties of natural substances and processed materials
-analysing and conducting research to develop theories, techniques and processes, and testing the reliability of outcomes under different conditions
-developing practical applications of experimental and research findings
-testing food products for flavour, colour, taste, texture and nutritional content
-advising on preserving, processing, packaging, storing and delivering foods
-developing quality control procedures and safety standards for the manufacture of food products

My JD as Lab Analyst: (not recognised)

- conducts in-process sampling and testing as defined by SOP
- performs analysis on other areas of work: vitamin analysis, mineral analysis, fats and oils analysis, proximate and raw material testing
- prepares reagents and standards for in-process testing or other assigned work area
- participates in inter-laboratory and intra-laboratory programs
- calibrates laboratory equipment

My JD as Analytical Scientist (recognised)
- ensure that new methods are transferred from R&D Analytical Research to TPLs (3rd party labs) and site labs prior to use of new RMs for manufacture and/or commercialization of new products
- qualify new equipment for the QC labs
- provide technical support for the qualification and implementation of Process Analytical Technologies to achieve real-time release
- communicate product's technical, scientific and regulatory knowledge throughout the product's life cycle

as you can see in the way it was written, there is a difference between the 2 roles. the analyst is performing tasks while the scientist is directing tasks and providing technical expertise as a Chemist in the conduct of his/her role. the way i see it, the assessor considered the analyst as a "Chemistry Technician" and the analytical scientist is a Chemist.

Just a quick question here. For the CV you submitted to VETASSESS, was a there a specific format/guidelines you had to adhere to? I do remember seeing a CV format in the old VETASSESS website but it seems they have removed it now.
