How long did it take you to get a job?

Noong 2005 eh 1 month inabot bago kami nakapagtrabaho ng misis ko. Everyday eh mga 20 na application pinapadala namin. Salitan kami sa pag apply kasi kelangan me magbantay sa anak namin. Ako apply sa umaga, sya sa hapon. Tyagaan lang. Kung ilang daang rejection email din natanggap namin pero nakapagtrabaho din naman eventually. Ganyan ang buhay. Pag me trabaho na eh tuloy tuloy na swerte nyan, makakabili na kayo ng bagong bahay, oven toaster, rice cooker, electric fan, kaldero, kawali, etc.

sorry ha hanggang ngayon pa nga eh hinuhulugan ko pa yung mountain bike na binili ko nung 2008 kaya di ko alam presyo nyang barko. si JCSantos me submarine yun tanungin mo.

Just want to share, my husband arrived in Sydney last Aug 6. And luckily (with fervent prayers and the Lord's grace) naka kuha siya ng job offer after two weeks, today he received his contract and will be starting next week.

@happywife23 hindi sila particular sa diploma/degree. Ang tinitingnan nila ung experience kaya dapat tailor fit tlga resume. yeah medyo mahirap nga raw makahanap ngayon pero once naman you're in, marami na rin opportunities ang lalapit sayo. Actually kung kelan nga ako nagkatrabaho, dun madaming nageemail and tumatawag skn... Nagbuild din ako relationship with recruiters kaya even across Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, may mga nagssulputan na job opps.

@jengrata yup puro contract nga pero sabi nila normally daw ganyan tlga naguumpisa mga trabaho dito.. mas malaki din rates pag contract kaya nga lang walang benefits and paid leaves. hehehe and syempre mas secure din daw pag full-time permanent bsta wag sila maglay off.. hehehee yes tama yan, wag muna maging mapili sa trabaho. ung una kong trabaho, 4 mos contract lang pero nagresign ako after 1.5 months kase may nagoffer skn ng 1 year+ contract for a 5-year project.. hehehh tapos ngayon meron ulit tumawag skn, full-time permanent pero dito sa melbourne.. sa sydney ung job offer na inaccept ko eh.. technically pde pa ako umatras dun pero ayoko naman ng ganon..hehehe nabook ko na rin flight ko eh and di pa namn job offer ung full-time job dito sa melbourne. Yang SAP Basis, sobrang ok yan dito, maraming job openings yan. ;-) especially pag 5 years + of experience, malaki tlga ang rates. hehehehe

Di ko masyado alam yung chuva ng husband ko basta COBOL and sa credit cards and focus ng work nya. He worked as BA, PM and Tech Lead. Hehe

I was interviewed here in Sg and invited for medical examination..not here pero sa Australia, free tickets & hotel for 5 days (although half day lang medical). I do hope na ito na to even though wala pang formal offer na pinipirmahan. God Bless to all job hunters. Keep the faith and you will realized that its the jobs that will hunt you.

Well the fact that pina medical exam ka sa Australia c/o the company means they are serious with your application...

Ako naman, I just got a confirmation today that I was accepted in an internal role that I applied to some weeks back; I am very happy as it is very much connected with my previous experience and of course it will be in a much higher salary bracket (considered part-time lang kasi ako as I am working 25 hrs per wk)...

Si misis din is just waiting for her confirmation na ma regular; salary wise, she will be getting lower than what she is getting now as wala na overtime and penalties sa sweldo nya BUT at least it will be a regular job na. And it can definitely help sa plan namin kumuha ng bahay.

Keep fighting friends... Always improve your resume and try to practice your interview skills.

@TasBurrfoot Thanks pare, we're leaving Singapore by Dec this year but through this God's given opportunity, mauuna muna me. The benefits is good then, kasi yung superannuation nila is 14% eh. I'll be leaving tomorrow.

COBOL din ako at sa credit cards din expertise ko hehe. TL and PL naman role ko. Pero expect ko na na BOPOL ako for few months... may mga COBOL mates na ako sa Melbourne na aampon sa akin while looking for work. Pag walang mahanap sa Melbourne kahit saan basta work

Usually kasi people go on holidays sa December... So simula pa cguro sa November bumabagal na daw talaga. No first hand experience yet though.
