Nurses to get English requirement shake up
Group of nurses set in a hospital
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia announced changes in English language skills requirement for nurses and midwives. New changes will be implemented from 1 July 2015.
New English tests introduced
In addition to the existing IELTS and OET tests, NMBA will accept PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT results from 1 July 2015.
Requirement for TOEFL iBT: minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test:
24 for listening,
24 for reading,
27 for writing, and
23 for speaking.
Requirement for PTE Academic: minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
Requirements for IELTS and OET remain unchanged.
Two test results may be combined to prove proficient English level
From 1 July 2015, two test results from two sittings in a six month period may be used together to meet the English language requirement.
Take IELTS for example, if you have sat two tests within a six months period and you achieve a minimum overall score of 7 in each sitting, and you achieve a minimum score of 7 in each component across the two sittings, and no score in any component of the test is below 6.5, then these two IELTS test results can be used together to meet the English language requirement.

in our case, we migrated as a couple 2 yrs ago in sydney with PR visa. Baon namin is 3k aud lng, we stayed with my cousin-in-law kya free accomodation and free tubig at kuryente hanggat jobless p kami..we arrrived winter season, di kmi masyado namili ng makakapal d2..kc may dala kmi from ukay..both of us are in IT field. i was 5 months preggy that time kaya si hubby lng ang naghahanap ng work. He was able to get a permanet IT position job after almost 2months. Sa transpo di rin kmi magastos kc malapit sa train station ung house so pag may interview sa CBD $9 return lng ang fare if peak hrs, mas mababa kpg hindi peak. since we are living with a relative bumibili kmi ng food namin and then share share sa lahat. di rin muna kami lumalayo ng pasyal pra tipid..nilalakad lng namin ung malalapit na park or mall pra exercise lalo na preggy ako..we went sa church na malapit sa house and thank God maraming filos kya madami pang nakatulong samin sa pagtitipid kc hatid sundo nila kmi everytime na punta kmi ng church..nagagalit pa sila samin nun kpg nagbubus kmi..in short lahat ng klase ng pgtitipid nagawa namin and we are blessed kc madami tumulong samin..at the end may natira pang 900aud sa baon namin..
