Hi guys, curious lang. Ang PTE ba meron din test kung saan meron kayo one-on-one conversation in person with an examiner? IELTS ksi meron, so naisip ko bka mas madali if wlang ganun PTE?

    Salamat sa mga sasagot.

hi! wala syang one-on-one with a person. purely computer po ang kaharap sa PTE. and via AI po ang scoring dito,

Hello, as promised, sharing some of the tips for PTE :)

    PART 1

    Preparation Materials:
    1. Apeuni (VIP & VIP with Live Class)
    2. Pearson (3 Official Mock Test + Test Bank)
    3. Practice practice practice and dasal :)

    Practice duration: 1.5 months
1st week - inaral ko muna ung flow ng exam and paano gagawin for each section
2nd week onwards - daily mock test from Apeuni (+ attendance to the live class)
Last 3 weeks - I took the official mock test on top of the daily mock test from Apeuni. From there, inidentify ko ung area kung san ako nagkakamali. I also practiced all of the prediction questions for May.

    Speaking
For speaking, I can confirm na mas mababa magbigay si PTE kesa kay Pearson. I only got 79+ sa mock test ko twice. But when I took the official mock test, 90 naman sa Speaking.

    • Read Aloud - hm, for me binabasa ko lang ung passage and nagpapause lang ako pag may comma and period. During the prep time, binabasa ko buo ung passage para mafigure out ko ung mahihirap na words. From Apeuni, inidentify ko ano ung kelangan ko iimprove like fluency and pronunciation.

    • Repeat Sentence - while listening, iniimagine ko ung scenario ng sinabi ng speaker. I'm sure na hindi ko naperfect to nung exam. May 1 or 2 ako na hnd ko masyado naintindihan so sinabi ko lang ung naalala ko. Hehe.

    • Describe Image - nung nirereview ko ung score report ko from Apeuni, dito ako pinakamababa saka sa retell lecture. For this one, ginamit ko ung template from the live class. Nadalian din kasi ako na iconnect siya sa RL since same lang halos ung template. Hehe.

"The image describes about title. It also provides information about the topic, in many different categories such as keywords. It is clear from the image that some figures are highest and lowest. After analyzing the image, it can be concluded that there are many important facts and figures."

    • Retell Lecture - again, for RL, ginamit ko ung template from the live class (blanks - keywords)

"The image describes about _____. It also provides information about _________. It is clear from the lecture that ________. After analyzing the lecture, it can be concluded that _____ are important facts and figures"

    • Answer Short Question - di ko masyado prinactice. Hehe. Nireview ko lang ung prediction file for this.

    Others:
    - For the mic, bumili ako ng Andrea headset from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Andrea-Communications-NC-455VM-USB-Noise-Canceling/dp/B071H84LTJ - can confirm na as of May 2023, eto ang ginagamit na headset. Hehe. For me, if may budget okay naman bumili since atleast nafamiliarize ako sa tools na ginagamit. Pero I think kaya din naman na hnd na bumili and gumamit na lang ng headset na may mic. :)
    - For the background noise, eto ginamit ko for practice:
During the PTE, actually hindi ako ganun naingayan. Pero I think kasi mas malakas ung ginagamit ko pag nagppractice ako kaya during the exam hindi ako ganun naingayan.

    Writing
For this section, Apeuni lang ginamit ko na template talaga. Haha.

For all of the template sa writing, kinabisado ko lang talaga ung template. As in word for word for me to make sure na hindi ako magkakamali sa grammar. Hehe.

In terms of practice kung pano ko kinakabisado, ang ginagawa ko lang is tntype ko everyday sa Word ung mga kelangan kabisaduhin hanggang sa tumatak na siya sa isip ko. Tapos if meron ako namiss na word, ihihighlight ko siya to make sure na macapture ko siya lagi sa practice.

    Reading
Sa Reading ako pinakanahirapan talaga. Dumating ako sa point na naiiyak na ko kasi mga last week na before ng exam nagkakamali parin ako haha pero sa awa ng Diyos, may mga lumabas sa exam na naaral ko na before and nagkamali na ko before kaya naalala ko na ung tamang sagot hehe. Sa time management, narealize ko na chill ka lang dapat kasi enough ung time sa pagsagot. Dati kasi nappressure ako sa time so ang nangyayari ang daming natitirang oras tapos mali mali ung sagot since nagmamadali ako. So di na ako dun nagfocus, basta ang naging palatandaan ko is pag more than 3 mins na ko sa question, kelangan ko na magmove on. Hehe. I also maximized the time during my exam, may mga 5 mins lang ako na natira sa dulo.

    • FIB - RW - Before, ang ginagawa ko is binabasa ko muna ung buong passage before ako sumagot. Pero narealize ko na masyadong mahaba ung passage kapag FIB-RW so nagseselect na lang ako ng words na feel ko tugma sa sentence then after ko mabasa lahat babalikan ko ung mga sinelect ko.

    • Multiple Choice (Multiple) - Binabasa ko muna ung question then saka ko babasahin ung buong passage. Since madalas masyado mahaba, hnd ako masyado nagspend ng time dito basta may makita lang ako na isang sagot na sure ako, un lang ung sinelect ko. During the exam, isa lang sinelect ko kahit multiple ung sagot hehe

    • Re-order Paragraphs - For RO, ang ginawa ko lang is binabasa ko muna lahat then iidentify ko ung 1st sentence (https://www.apeuni.com/pte/guide?blog_id=129&nav_id=reading). Once matapos na ko, babasahin ko ulit ung buong passage to make sure na nagmmake sense. Also for this, practice lang talaga. May lumabas din kasi sa exam na napractice ko na before kaya gets ko na ung topic.

    • FIB - R - Dito ko inapply ung babasahin ko ung buong passage before ko sagutan. First, short lang naman ung passage di katulad sa RW. Second, kelangan mo talaga maintindihan ung buong passage kasi may mga choices na same naman meaning pero mas appropriate ung isang word sa context nung passage. Wag madaliin kasi eto naman ung 2nd to the last na portion and malaki din ung weight nito sa scoring.

    • Multiple Choice (Single) - Same sa Multiple Choice (Multiple), binabasa ko muna ung question then saka ko babasahin ung passage. Mas madali to kasi isa lang ung sagot hehe

    PART 2

    Listening

    • Summarize Spoken Text - For SST, cnombine ko lang ung mga template from live class and from Apeuni mismo (https://www.apeuni.com/pte/guide?blog_id=132&nav_id=listening).

I have to make sure kasi na may time pa ako na matitira for WFD. Haha.

    • Select Missing Word - for this one, kelangan lang talaga intindihin ung sinasabi ni Speaker kasi minsan nakakalito. Kapag malapit na din magend, binabalikan ko ung mga choices to see if may choice na fit na dun sa current na sinasabi ng speaker.

    • Highlight Incorrect Words - hindi ko siya masyado pnpractice nung una pero dahil mababa ako sa mock test sa listening, narealize ko na kelangan ko siya pagtuunan ng pansin. Hehe. Before, ang ginagawa ko is sinusundan ko lang ung speaker. Narealize ko dahil mejo last part na to, nadrain na ko sa ibang parts lalo sa Reading. Para magising ako and makafocus, sinasabayan ko si speaker basahin ung passage para pag may narinig ako na mali maclick ko na kagad. Once kasi matapos na ung speaker, mahirap manghula lalo may negative marking sa portion na to.

    • Write From Diction - nagttype ako habang nagsasalita si Speaker. If may kaya ako mashort cut, shinoshortcut ko (e.x. university - uni / you - u). Nagadd din ako extra words pag di ako sure sa sinabi.

    Remarks:

    • Meron din pala ako nakita na practice erasable notepad and pen for PTE: https://www.amazon.com/Pearson-Exams-Simulation-Booklet-Markers/dp/1637958978 Hindi ko siya nasama nung bumili ako headset kasi di ako aware na may ganito. To be honest, kaya naman na wala. Pero if you want to invest sharing the link here as well :)
    • May nakita akong comment dito before about sa screen resolution (1024x768) and malaking tulong to dahil hindi ako ganun nahirapan magadjust during the exam.
    • Walang ibang sikreto kundi practice practice practice. Identify your weakness and improve sa area na un. Trial and error ang naging approach ko until sa nafigure out ko ung strategy na magwowork best for me.

Good luck sa future takers! Feel free to message me if may questions. I hope nakatulong to :)

Ngayon ko lang narinig yan pero upon searching may mga gumagawa nga nito.

I followed APEUNi lessons which did not follow this method so i cant comment. If you are confident with your reading aloud, better stick to it na lang.

Hello, just sharing that I somehow got 90 in all bands, and only used jimmyssem's scoring techniques and RL/DI template 2days before the actual exam.

Basically, ang tip ko lang is to:

    • Speak in a higher pitch (parang yung mga nasa commercial)
    • Do not mess up the RS and RA
    • Just don't stop speaking sa RL/DI. Basahin mo lang yung nasa screen pwede na yun.
    • Reading ako pinaka nahirapan, medyo trash kasi yung comprehension ko. Just read it CAREFULLY AND PROPERLY.

You may need to practice more on WFD/R&W FIBs/SST
    Use Pearson's Official Mock Test.

Hello guys can I ask something, how is pte being scored ? is it by percentage or by every item correct ?

example for WFD, the overall words for 4 items is 41 words, but in score contribution chart it shows only 20 items for wfd ?

can somebody explain to me please.

I scored 90 sa speaking in the actual exam, but never managed to score that high sa APEUni. Ganun talaga ng scoring niya, mas mababa. If you have extra budget, closer to the actual exam yung scoring ng official Pearson PTE mock tests. Mahal nga lang (2K PHP ang minimum if I recall correctly) but that gives you a feel for the real thing, somehow.
