Things to do first Before going to Australia

@psychoboy Just curious, for what yung dental checkup? Though I heard from a friend, mahal nga daw dental work dun like pasta etc, so mas maganda dito na sa pinas ipagawa before umalis.
sinagot mo na... ipagawa ang dapat ipagawa before aalis!

to add to this - supposedly just wanted a cleaning however the dentist found some $hits underneath my molar. turned out there was a dead tooth that needs to be either (1) extracted or (2) undergo root canal procedure.

I opted for #2 - cost me 7500 here in Bicol; still expensive but a lot cheaper had it been done in Melbourne which they say would easily go north of A$6K...

Damn...

tama si @psychoboy. we had our teeth checked last year pa lang, kahit wala pang visa. para nakahiwalay na un budget for it. may kamahalan din kc un dental work (root canal, etc.

@mandand - bisaya po ako, from cagayan de oro. my wife grew up here in daraga...

andito kami the past month! spending time with in-laws; next month, sa cagayan de oro naman kami. final stop before the move to melby!

@chuella Hindi naman sobrang layo.. Cguro mag-allot lang kayo ng around 200-250 pesos (pag ordinary taxi).. pag airport taxi bka 350-400? hehe not sure, matagal na akong di nakasakay ng airport taxi..

wala bang ordinary taxi sa terminal 3? airport taxi na lang meron?

@stolich18, thanks po for replying. Bukas na po ang punta namin ng CFO. From davao city po kasi kami kaya walang idea about going to CFO. Di ko lang po alam kung may ordinary taxi dun sa NAIA terminal 3. But its good hindi na hindi naman pala gaano kalayo. Worried lang ako baka umabot na 1000pesoa taxi fare namin, heheh...thanks uli? Merun ordinary airport sa terminal 3. Punta ka lang sa departure area..dun sa may exit. May mga pila ddun ng white taxi. Pwede mo rin itanong sa guard para sure.

hmm.. pero ang nakalagay lang nmn po sa condition ng visa for the secondary diba is kailangan lang hindi sya mauna sa primary..

so kung nandun na ang primary.. pwde na sumunod na lang ang secondary.. di na kailangan kasabay sa flight...

abangan natin ang sagot ng experts...

@lock_code2004, meron po nakalagay sa VISA GRANT Letter nyo na ganun?
Bat po sa amin walang nakalagay na dapat hindi mauuna mag entry ang primary

54 days to go before the big move to Melbourne; so far I have done the following - pls feel free to "remind" me if I miss out to do anything very important.

(1) Book Tickets
(2) Did the CFO Seminar
(3) Opened account in Australia and transfer money - c/o NAB & Commonwealth Bank
(4) Arranged for temporary accommodation - c/o a friend we met earlier during a vacation in Melbourne
(5) Collated all important documents - i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc
(6) Update CV and begin searching for possible jobs
(7) Sorted out the incorrect year of birth in my drivers license

In the next few days, we shall be doing the following:

(1) Do a dental check-up and get a complete dental record
(2) Pack up - probably the hardest thing to do as you will basically pack your whole life within a 50kg luggage allowance

Am excited and at the same time, kinakabahan na rin. When we moved to Singapore 4 years back, wala kami pera but may trabaho na waiting. This time around naman, may konting ipon (salamat sa pagiging OFW) BUT wala kami work waiting for us.

(1) Ano pong airlines ang binook nyo and how much if you dont mind us asking?
(2) Advisable po ba na mag seminar na as in 5 months before the flight?
(3) Mas advantageous po ba na mag open na ng account while still here in the Phils based on your experience?

- we flew via Singapore Airline, nagbayad ako ng P7500 each plus Krisflyer Miles; absolutely fantastic carrier, yun nga lang 25kg lang ang binigay nila as it was a free flight daw.
(2) Advisable po ba na mag seminar na as in 5 months before the flight?
- definitely, the more items you can tick off in your to do list, the better...
(3) Mas advantageous po ba na mag open na ng account while still here in the Phils based on your experience?
- it worked for me, mataas kasi interest rate sa Australia (above 4.00%) rather than let my money sit in SG or PH bank which gives peanuts as interests. We transferred our money more than 3 months before leaving.

The holder of the visa must not enter Australia before the entry to Australia of a person specified
in the visa.

Okay if wala niyan, mas may flexibility kayo.

@peach17 - i think iba ang intindi mo.. i did not say na "dapat hindi mauuna magentry ang primary"... yung visa condition is, hindi dapat mauna ang SECONDARY..

meron nakalagay dun sa secondary, same nung post ni @Bryann above..

If you have a visa, I don't see any reason why you will have a hard time clearing past immigration from both PH & AU...

Since 25kg lang binigay sa inyo, nag bayad na lang ba kayo ng excess baggage?
2. cge po, thanks for this. attend na kami ng CFO Seminar hopefully by next week. Wala naman pong appointment needed di ba?
3. Sa pag open nyo po ng account, may charges po ba na included since wala pa kayo physically sa AU? Anong bank po yung napili nyo?
