    Hello everyone,
I was reading your post and we can relate with the challenges.

We moved to Sydney last March 20, currently on a 14-day self quarantine at a hotel. Since the covid outbreak and plans for a city lockdown, medyo mahirap yata makahanap ng work. Would you know of our alternatives? Some friends advised us to visit Centrelink for an allowance. Can we qualify for a Jobseeker allowance? Any other options?

    Keep safe, everyone.

In 3 weeks time dumami na and yun nga starting bukas, lockdown na ang NSW, Victoria and Canberra.

I would assume na since ang mga companies ngayon dito e working on abnormal circumstances (work from home) - job hiring may be put on hold muna till when di naten alam.

If mag BM kayo, you will be under mandatory 14 day self quarantine, and take note na if makikitira kayo sa kaibigan, pati sila madadamay sa self quarantine so hindi sya magiging ideal. 14 days sa hotel will easily slash 2000 off your ipon din.

We can never say when is the best time to come (ngayon ba or after a few months pa) because we don’t know how things will progress.

If you are moving here then with very limited resources, I suggest to stay where you are right now, mag ipon muna ng madami because getting a job at this time may be extra challenging.

Mag iingat tayong lahat at dagdagan ang dasal :)

Hello po. May work na kayo dyan? Nakakuha na ba kayo ng house or staying with a friend?

Yesterday, most non-essential shops were asked by goverment to close. I was out yesterday around midday and it felt super surreal to see cafes and restaurants shutdown their stores. The general vibe feels really sad.

In terms of work and job hunting, I found out yesterday from a friend in the construction and engineering industry that their Company might have to temporarily shut down as well. Their company still have two months worth of work and the boss guaranteed them up to two months pay, and that's it. After that, the company do not have enough projects in the pipeline and no regular cash inflow anymore. Lot's of their clients have to put halt on contracts because of the uncertainties.

On the bright side naman, na-feel ko ang concern ng goverment nila dito sa mga tao na mawawalan ng trabaho. Very wholistic ang approach nila, not only to the corona health issue pero concern din sila sa magiging financial impact sa mga tao. The goverment asked companies to put payment for utilities on hold, landlords cannot evict tenants who will not be able to pay rent, kapag may mortgage ka pwedeng hindi muna magbayad. Tsaka meron allowance na ibibigay if mawalan ka ng work. Iba compared sa dati, may realization ako na tama ang decision ko to come here.

Sinagot ko na busy kasi sya, work from home ang madam.

:) Thanks Lecia. Last week, may mga interviews rin ako. Video Call. Kaya lang this week, nagsabi sila na mag freeze hiring sila due to the circumstances. Ayun. So move nalang rin namin yun big move, until makita yun pagbaba ng number of cases.

Nakakatakot dito sa manila. Parang hindi transparent sa numbers e. Wala kasi mashadong test kits.

Yung mga natetest ngayon, old cases pa yan.

Kelan nyo ulit balak mag BM.?

Yung mga natetest ngayon, old cases pa yan.

Kelan nyo ulit balak mag BM.?

IT. At the end of the day, sa mga tao pa rin talaga mag kakatalo yun pag contain ng covid. Dito madaming pasaway

The best thing you should do at the moment is comply with the 14-day self quarantine. During that time, ang magagawa mo lang is plan your next steps.

Most workers po nka work from home na din. Let us all pray na matapos na ang NCov19 sa buong mundo.

I agree.. Sa mga mag BM soon, based sa profession mo, check it's status dito sa AU. Are they still hiring? If no, will they start hiring in the next 6mos? Atleast try to analyze and predict.. or check sa jobsites, forums or sa mga kakilala mo.. 2nd thing is bring enough $$$ that would cover all your expenses incase matagal pa yung work.. If may pamilya/anak kayo, mas marami pa kayong dapat icheck like necessities esp sa mg bata.. Sa mga PR, good thing is may jobseekers allowance from centrelink, I'm not entirely sure lang if available to para sa lahat ng jobless or for those lang na nawalan ng work dahil sa COVID-19, just do your research.. malaking tulong din, 550 per forthnight ata if I'm not mistaken.. Godbless sa lahat! Lets keep on praying, I'm sure malampasan din natin to! :)
