SV pathway or direct EOI for 189 / 190 /491?

ConboyboyConboyboy Sa puso moPosts: 299Member

Ano ba masuggest niyo?
Nasa SOL naman ang work as program administrator/project administrator or Project manager? Target to claim 5yrs exp sa vetassess siguro mga 70 points lang. (Without additional from pag state specific)

Ok ba SV onshore then apply nalang onshore lodge EOI for 189/190/491?

Or same lang timeline just go ahead and lodge EOI offshore??

Baka kasi pag onshore other than 189/190/491 pwede makakuha ng 186 with a willing employer? Or bihira den.

The student visa route is not recommended if di kaya financially. You'd have to pay the tuition fee, plus sustain yourself dun on restricted working hours, and then added cost pa yung PR application. It gets you in Australia fast, though. I saw someone get an employer sponsorship while on a SV (look up BisdakOz sa YouTube), but it can be a hit or miss. Make sure na if magSV ka, yung kukunin mo may pathway to PR.

More or less the timeline will be the same, whether you try onshore or offshore. But offshore gives you a security blanket kumbaga. If you can wait naman and are better off where you are for now, try mo na muna offshore. The first step naman is a skills assessment—if that doesn't pan out, you can take a chance on the SV route knowing that you tried offshore GSM. Australian immigration right now is pretty good, since they've increased the cap and are giving out invites more generously to address the labour shortage, so much so that even those with 65 points get invites na. It used to be much more competitive. So it's not impossible for you.

Apply offshore nalang po, kasi at least direct PR na yung inaapply mo. There's no guarantee na after 2 years ay kasama pa din sa skilled list yung profession niyo. Also, currently, mas maraming naaapprove na offshore kaysa sa onshore

I’m not sure about more offshore are approved?

Onshore definitely is still somehow advantageous….but would student visa be recommended to address location? I still wouldn’t. I’m a product of student visa pathway many years ago but will never recommend this to my clients as tte best pathway. It comes with risks.

Ah you mean the actual visa application processing? I thought you were referring to chances of getting invited for state nomination/ apply for visa. When it comes to this, onshore is still much quicker, but that doesn’t mean one has to quickly go to Australia via student visa. I would rather advice a client to stay offshore than to enter on a student visa.

With regards to the link you shared, it only refers to processing applications, not approval. It doesn’t say anything whether or not they will grant more visas from offshore than onshore. Processing visa application vs visa grant/application approval are two different things. Prioritising to process visa applications where primary applicant is offshore does not necessarily mean it will be approved. Hence, it can’t be assumed that more offshore applications are approved vs onshore.

What’s also saying in that link is that it’s much faster to go via provisional visa - 491 as that’s item 3 of their priority. Hence, do not get turned off to go via 491 - don’t be too fixated with a 189. I know it’s the best one can ever have but that’s not the be all and end all.

I agree with all the posts about being financially capable before going the student route. I have classmates that were Project Managers from their home country that were forced to downgrade roles such as software engineer, system administrator etc. in able to secure a part-time job. But only a few of them got to work in the industry they have chosen. Most of my classmates work in the kitchen, retail and other casual jobs. Most corporate jobs require full working rights.
As I observed, it is easier when you have a partner but it becomes harder when you have kids.

Chances of getting sponsored by employers. Yes, some companies are willing to sponsor but this is also true even if you are offshore. You just have to look more and improve your profile.

Chances of getting 189/190. Yes definitely, we got invited with only 65+5 (VIC) from a highly competitive occupation. We targeted the VIC onshore qualifications.

If you are already skilled try getting 189/190 first. After a year or so, if it does not progress then try other options like SV.

When you are continuously putting efforts into your Australia dream and never give up. Whichever route you prefer, you'll eventually get it soon.

Good luck and all the best on your applications!

This is very true po. The student visa pathway is very lengthy. I would definitely advise to someone if she/he has a solid experience to go through the GSM and gain more experience sa Pinas. Initially, gusto ko lang talaga umalis sa Pinas kaya ako andito and SV is the easiest pathway, I just fell in love dito, I wanted to stay longer. Swertehan lang talaga makahanap ng sponsor. Luckily, isa ako don. Pero kapalan ng mukha and swertehan lang talaga. I was already anticipating na mag student visa ako after ma expire yong student visa ko. I'd sent through almost 500+ applications while doing kitchen hand, cleaning jobs, and anything casual just to sustain my living. Diskette lang talaga. Di ko alam yong future ko kahit naka TSS 482 na ako. Just enjoy the ride, and keep praying kay God. Pero you don't know your destiny/fate pag andito ka na. Do not give up. Always have plan B, and Plan C, hanggang plan Z. 🤣 You don't know your fate once you're here. Very unpredictable.

you need to lodge visa first (upload the necessary documents, and pay visa fee), then a HAP ID will be generated for you to be used for the medical

Swerte niyo po nakahanap kayo ng sponsor! <3

Do you have any special tips panp hanapin yung mga may mag sponsor? Or thru cover letters lang and direct emails to the headhunter/job poster.

Aalisin na rin ung unli work rights ng student visas ngayong June 2023 so that's another reason na wag mag SV. My honest suggestion is a student visa should be a last resort. Only reason I did the SV route back in 2019 was to get regional study pts in Aus. Nagbabago rules nila everytime so wala talaga guarantee na makaka apply ka ng PR after study. Wala ka karapatan much dito pag SV ka - nasasala ka na agad sa interview pag nalaman nila na di ka pr, and wala ka benefits sa gov like medicare and centrelink. Lalo na pag may family ka na - mahirap isustain ang studies and family at the same time sa part time work. Just try to get more pts for the skilled visas.

To be honest, wala ako ma think na advice aside sa be persevere. Don't give up. Once you land an interview, make sure to nail the interview. Pag may work ka na, just do your best. When I was looking for a job, add-on nalang yong sponsorship, because, I only wanted to gain more experience and maging part sa tech industry, also to sustain my living din. Nag apply lang ako ng nag apply. Na swertehan ako sa company ko na mostly immigrants so they provide sponsorship. Start with start-up companies with low number of employees :) If you think na they like your work, irreplaceable ka, and please do extra mile, then negotiate for a sponsorship. Express your interest na you want to stay longer sa company. Most of the corporate jobs, they're looking for PR and citizen, and they prefer full-time. Pero nakipag negotiate lang ako 😅 For me, naswertehan lang talaga ako..
