@Wnyx the process is already clear to me :), I just thought that Diac, just like the accounting bodies, (although they are different organizations with different functions) will allow us to complete our requirements without additional payment after the rejection, e.g. another accounting body will endorse our skills employment because we pass all necessary subjects with them. But unfortunately as @psychoboy said it panibagong bayad na naman.

@Wnyx Btw, ICAA ka diba? so you paid AUD550 for both qualifications and skilled employment assessment? Medyo weird lg kasi i found out that you can pay AUD400 for qualifications and AUD400 for skilled employment if taken separately. If there's an option to get just the qualifications assessment then probably DIAC allows that and we'll leave it to them to assess the skilled employment. Although medyo divided ang opinion even among agents as @CPAgirl mentioned

@Brian83 yup, i availed for the "combo" assessment, both my skills and employment were assessed by ICAA and paid the amount you mentioned.

with regards to skilled employment of @CPAGirl, you may opt to take the risk of claiming additional points for this matter and hope that DIAC will consider it. But as what @psychoboy said, it's more possible that DIAC will take the side of assessing authorities (CPAA) taking into account that they have already given their opinion about this. And if this happen, well... you might end up being rejected.

Okey @Brian83 - naguguluhan kasi kami on what you meant with your query... :)

When you get a rejection, you will have the following options:
If your visa application is not approved, the department will send you a letter stating:

    1. why the visa was not approved
    2. your review rights, if any
    3. a time frame for lodging an appeal, if applicable.

@CPAGirl, ganito rin result ng CPAA assessment ko. I was told that I did not meet the requirements for Accounting Theory and Company Law. I have also lodged an appeal together with additional details of the subject outline and topics for all subjects related to Accounting Theory unfortunately the response was still the same.

I am currently preparing my documents that I will be sending to ICAA for assessment and hopefully the response is better than the result that I received from CPAA. If this shall fail, then another option is to submit an assessment as External Auditor instead of Accountant (General) in order to do away with the Accounting Theory bugger! :)

If all else fails, then try Canada by May 2013. :))

    Hi Bigfoot.

I think that you can just reapply immediately to CPAA and change your nominated occcupation since you already have submitted the docs to them. My lacking subject was only Accounting Theory kaya i immediately took the exam nlang. After that I got a 12/12 assessment.
If it's any help, I spoke with many migration agents regarding the advice of CPAA concerning my employment. For most of them, they check on the quality of the employment references and render advice as to how many years can be claimed. I understand that their reckoning date is after finishing the accounting degree(should be comparable to an Au degree) and passing the CPA board exam and that eligibility depends on the full assessment of the experience.

Hope all goes well with your processing.

Question po. You had your assessment in ICAA right? And you did also the skilled employment assessment right? What documents did you submit to them? Did you include payslips?

Also would like to ask about the Overseas Accounting Body requirements in ICAA, is this applicable to Philippine CPAs?

    Cheers!

Wow daming accountants! Mabuhay tayong lahat...c",) Goodluck to all who are in the process of migrating here...to those waiting for the result - relax and pray you will have it soon... to those recently approved - Congratulations! ... to those who just landed here and looking for a job - be positive and keep looking! What I did before was I took up internship for 3 months in a small Tax Company to learn how taxation works here in Australia and got a job on my last day of internship from a Accounting/Consulting Firm. To date I am still working with the same company (nearly two years soon).

Which one do you think is better to submit my skills assessment? CPAA of ICAA? I read kasi here that they have problems with CPAA with regards to Accounting Theory.

What documents did your wife submit for CPAA? kasama ba dun letter of good standing from PICPA and the CPA rating sheet?

    Thanks for the help =)

    @Filoz

To be honest mate, if you ask me where to submit your skills assessment I would be biased on CPAA as I don't know personal the requirements of ICAA... Yes, you are correct, a lot of people here and even from abroad have problems with the Accounting Theory part - I am not sure if it is just luck on our side when we submitted my wife's papers but we did ensure that all documents are complete and we even came up with a matrix regarding the core knowledge areas and mapped it accordingly with the subjects that was taken by my wife back in college.

    My wife submitted the following:

    (1) Syllabus
    (2) IELTS Score Sheet
    (3) Copy of Transcript
    (4) Copy of Diploma
    (5) CPA License
    (6) Matrix I mentioned above

We did not submit a letter of good standing and the rating sheet...

The COE's you did not submit yet at that time? CPA License meaning PRC ID? Or the certificate from PICPA?

Do you have a copy of your matrix? I have a subject "Theory of Accounts" in the sylabus. Is this acceptable to them?

Question po: I am interested to apply as a skilled independent migrant. What I can see on immigration website is that you need to pay AUD3060 to lodge the visa once you are invited to apply. I would like to know if they also check if you have enough money to support yourself while you are looking for work in AU. How much do they require? Thank you.

@psychoboy, hi! Also an accountant here, but Brisbane-based. Wifey can still appeal the results with cpaa. Some friends I know were asked to take some foundation subjects at uni, but when they appealed professional level na agad :)
    Hi @021607 - thanks for this! :)

We went to the CPA Office a week ago to inquire on my wife's membership assessment; what happened was sa migration assessment nya pasado lahat ng subject however naman sa membership assessment andami kailangan ipasa na foundation course bago maka proceed to become an associate member and sit on the professional level papers.

What we did was pinakita namin migration assessment result nya and the membership assessment result; sabi kaagad ng CSO, this can't be right as parehas lang naman ang tinitingnan na subjects in both assessments eh, mas strict nga lang daw yung sa migration.

So she called and verified with her supervisor; 3 minutes after she said, we will updated the records to reflect her passing the foundation courses.

So ayun, my wife activated her membership (and paid AUD 185 ata for half year fee) and now she is part of CPA Australia as an Associate Member.
