you have several options:
- look for employer who can sponsor you.. possible but very slight chance.. especially now employers are interested only to hire those with local AU experience
- study Masteral/Graduate school (Student Visa).. and you can work part-time while studying, then get Post-Study work visa after.... this is very costly (tuition fee approx 15K-20kAUD)

Hi guys!!!! I'm paying forward all the advices that I got from this forum.

A million thanks to sir lockcode and sir psychoboy... Thank you for your inputs. I just want to share my good news.

Just this afternoon, I received the best news ever. My application for Permanent Resident VIsa Subclass 189 was approved my CO Team 33 Brisbane.

Here is my timeline:

September 2011 : Approved assessment of documents by APC
November 2011: IELTS exam (result W: 7.0 S: 7.0 R: 8.5 L: 8.5 OBS: 8.0)
March 2012: Took APC Stage 1 exam
May 2012: Passed APC Stage 1 exam
December 2012: Applied for Skillselect
January 2012: Received Invitation for Subclass 189 (60 points)
March 2013: Lodged Application
April 2013: Received notification to submit other documentation for proof
May 2013: Submitted all required documents
May 10 2013: Received email that my VISA was granted

I was a bit apprehensive at first to file my application since medyo naguguluhan ako sa ibig sabihin ng "experience in closely related occupation". Kasi lahat ng experience ko ay as an Industrial Pharmacist but my nominated occupation is retail pharmacist. However, wala naman palang kaso to sa DIAC since nasa umbrella or same ANZSCO group ang industrial pharmacist and retail pharmacist so "closely related " sila. I took the gamble and it all paid off.

Hello to all. I would like to apply for Skilled Independent (subclass 189). I have more than 10 yrs IT experience, but I graduated with a non-IT degree. Will this affect my application? Do I need to do something (e.g. take a certain test, be a member of a group, etc) ? Thanks in advance for your advice.

- because you dont have an IT degree, You will need to do the assessment via RPL - Recognition of Prior Learning
- check the ACS website on how to proceed..
- check the ACS Assessment thread

hello. i am new to this forum. i found it during my search. i applied for victoria sponsorship and after two months, i received an email from them rejecting my application. i am disheartened. i could not believe it. i sent an email asking them why i was not nominated and have not received any response. i would like to know why i was rejected when i met the requirements. do you know anyone who has experience the same, being rejected for state sponsorship? your inputs would be highly appreciated.

hi @lock_code2004, nabasa ko pala itong reply mo... ibig po sabihin mahirap maghanap ng work sa AU especially us na walang local AU experience?

@peach17 - hi... hindi ko pa naranasan, hindi pa ako nag-aapply..
but based sa mga nabasa natin mga experience ng iba..
mahirap pero hindi impossible. ganun talga sa umpisa...

may mga swerte na nakhanap ng work before pumunta ng AU
meron din ilang days/wk pagdating ng AU..
on the average 3mos daw ang paghanap ng work, kaya nga kailangan may baon talga..
pag medyo mahigpit ang competition, atleast mga 6mos daw..

Guys, ask ko lang po kung magrerelease ng new Skilled Occupation List ang DIAC sa Skilled-Independent program? Planning din po kc me mag-apply with Civil Engineering Draftsperson although I am Civil Engineer by profession.

Hi All, I have a question. I am targeting a state-sponsorship Visa (Subclass 190) with an ICT Project Manager Nominated Skill. I have almost 4 years experience working in the IT field as an IT Service Continuity Manager handling Continuity Projects. However, my degree is Computer Science and my transcript would work better for a Programmer. My question is, would it be better to nominate an ICT Programmer skill (even if I have no work experience for it, but my Degree would back it up good) or nominate the ICT Project Manager which is more my speed nowadays.

@mhej - your nominated occupation should match your work experience..
they (ACS) will assess you based on your work experience/skills by showing your Cert of Employment with your job description and comparing it with the standard ANZSCO code job description..

BS Comp Sciences, i believe is an IT related degree, so there will be no problem with that..

so my suggestion, check the ANZSCO code description and see which occupation matches to your current job..

Ma'am/Sir, BS Computer Science rin po ang degree ko, but lahat ng work experience ko is in Digital/Online Marketing. BS Computer Science belongs to ICT category pero na-approved naman po yong nomination ko by AIM, which is not an assessing authority for ICT. Based on this, naisip ko na mas mabigat ang work experience kesa sa degree.

In your case po, wala ka po atang magiging problema kasi po ang BS Computer Science degree is part of ICT.

Sir, kasama po yong Civil Engineering Draftsperson sa Skilled Occupation List (http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule1.pdf) na pwede e-nominate for Skilled Independent visa. E check nyo nalang po yong requirements to apply for nomination po.

Hi, Newbie here!

I just submitted my EOI and based on the system, I got 70pts.

age - 30pts
ielts - 10pts
education - 15pts
experience - 15pts

But, my education only got an Advanced Diploma equivalent (though I got a bachelor's degree) from my assessing body, which will only give me 10pts and there's no option in the EOI system for this. I am just concerned with this discrepancy in my score.

Can anyone enlighten me with this?

Hello! Pasensya na po sa abala.. pero gusto ko lang po sanang humingi ng tulong sa pag-bigay po ng information.. I am planning to apply for a Skilled Independent Visa.. Sa mga nababasa ko po dito, puro tungkol po sa IT.. Kung matutulungan niyo po sana ako.. kung saan pong forum ako pwede magpunta para makapagbasa ng tungkol naman po sa Illustrators/Graphic Designers / Cooks po.. Isa po kasi akong Cook sa ngayon.. pero ang una ko pong trabaho ay Graphic Designer.. Gusto ko po sanang mag-umpisa thru Skill Select ngunit hindi ko po alam kung saan ako pwede magpa-assess ng skills ko.. Nabasa ko po kasi na dapat ay magpa skill assessment at IELTS muna ako bago ako makapagsubmit ng EOI. Nagbabasa din po ako ng thungkol sa SkillSelect sa Austalian immigration website.. ngunit ng makita ko itong forum niyo at parang mas madali siyang intindihin dahil nga po sa may halong experience niyo na din po.. Ako po'y baguhan lang dito sa forum niyo at stage zero pa lang sa pag-aapply papuntang Australia. Maraming-maraming salamat po..
