Gusto ko talaga Canada pero sinara na nila doors for IT.

Australia naman, marami na ako friends dun and it's not too far from Pinas just in case kailanganin umuwi.

I'm in the IT industry and sanay na akong mag OT at magtrabaho ng weekends/holidays and I don't expect na mabago yan when I finally get to work in AUS though sabi nga ng friends ko doon totoo talaga yung impression about the laid back (relatively) lifestyle.

I've always loved Singapore and Australia...am not sure though ano lamang ng Australia...is it just the "flora & fauna" and the family culture?

There's nothing racist about it, it's just that SG, being a small country, needs to ensure na among the migrants, not one race dominates the other, eh ang dami na rin Pinoy na PR sa SG.

    http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/newsbusiness/aap/8453651/australia-2nd-most-desired-job-destination
Actually based on experience ko sa US and nababasa basa ko sa mga forums about australia, the only advantage that US has in terms of working/living is mas madali magkaron ng bahay sa US... Lalo na nung nag burst yung housing bubble sila... 1M USD wont get u much in australia pero it will get you a rockstar house in tier 3 states sa US (i.e. AZ)...

Cost of living relatively the same (mataas ng konti sa AU) pero sweldo, is absolutely higher in AU... IT professionals working on the same field fetches around 30% more sa AU compared sa US

One of the good reads demonstrating comparison on AU vs US citizens buying power (how many hours needed to work in order to purchase goods)... It's a given fact na if we compare prices straight up, way cheaper and US prices than AU... but if you take into consideration how much you have to work to earn yung pambili, its a bit surprising na mas mura ang consumer goods sa au...
    http://www.bobinoz.com/blog/5972/the-cost-of-living-australia-and-the-us-compared/

Lesson learned = work hard in AU, then take a break and shop hard in the US hahah!

    http://www.eca-international.com/news/press_releases/7650/#.T5AiZKstieY

    And I quote:
"Singapore and Sydney top the global ranking
Good air quality, solid infrastructure and healthcare facilities, low crime and low health risks helped Singapore maintain the number one spot in the global ranking for quality of living for Asian assignees. The city is closely followed by Sydney.

Australian locations dominate the global top 10 with Perth (6), Canberra (7) and Melbourne (8) joining Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide at the top of the ranking. In the region, the most notable change was New Zealand's Christchurch. The city dropped from 30th to 53rd place in the ranking as its housing and infrastructure were severely affected by last year's earthquake."

Staka dito naman mag busy tao dito kaya they only have time for them self.

    cheers

i've heard of this pinoy mentality.. i guess hindi lang naman nga sa australia yan.. kundi kahit saang maraming pinoy.. for me hindi ko lang pinapansin pag may mga ganyang issue..

in the end, it will be up to us kung magiging ganun din tayo.. or we will change our mindset..
bagong immigrant man or luma na... we all have the same goals kung bakit tayo lumilipat ng ibang bansa... and that is what matters most..

They assume na they went to SG nung kakaunti pa lang pinoy so they think they belong to the "higher" class of migrant workers.

God exalts those who humble themselves and He humbles those who exalt themselves. :)

Back to topic na sabi ni @aldousnow. :) Bakit nga ba Australia? Ako, as far as immigration process/requirements are concerned mas madali sa AU compared to Canada and New Zealand. :) Kaya nung pagraduate ko nung college, inaral ko migration rules ng Canada and NZ with my bf then now husband :). Di namin ma-meet requirements ng Canada and NZ due to lack of years in work experience so I stopped dreaming about migration until 2010. I gave AU a chance and read a lot about it only to realize ang dali lang pala mag-apply dun and take note mas mura sya kaya ayun nag-tyaga talaga kami to meet and complete the requirements. Eto mga naaalala kong information dati. Please correct me na lang if I'm wrong or iba na rules nila Canada and NZ ngayon.

    1) Sa Canada, ang application fee mas mahal. Ang bayad is yung main applicant plus additional fee per head.
Sa AU walang kelangan for 175.
    3) Application processing takes almost 3 years sa AU less than a year lang, for 175 ulit. Less if may state sponsor ka (176).
    4) Sa NZ naman merong requirement na kapag nasa NZ ka na, within 3 months dapat makahanap ng work na related sa skills mo. That's the time pa lang ka mabibigyan ng PR visa.

In terms of lifestyle, entertainment, work and other factors acceptable naman ang AU samin, very favorable actually. :)

Can't say the same for Singapore, Hong Kong or sa mga bansa sa Gitnang Silangan na may kanya kanyang wika. So in short, halos walang language barrier sa Australia :)

    NZ:
    Pro's
    - No IELTS
    - School's Assessment around S$1800 for both husband and me
    - EOI S$450
    - Cheaper migration fee S$2,000
    - Nice weather, laid back lifestyle
    - More friends are moving from SG to NZ

    Con's
    - Economy not as good as AU
    - Some people from NZ are moving to AU for higher pay
    - High cost standard of living, but salary is not as high
    - NZ $ is as same palitan with SG $

    AU:
    Pro's
    - Economy is very good
    - Salary is high so standard of living is better
    - Nice weather, laid back lifestyle
    - AU$ is almost same palitan with US$ and CA$

    Con's
    - IELTS, S$300 per exam
    - Skills assessment A$350
    - Expensive Migration fee A$3k
    - Wala kami masyado kakilala ni AU

Husband wants to go to AU, me I want to go to NZ with friends :(.
Deciding factor dn na I will sponsor my parents and siblings (ages 10,8,7,4) once naging PR kami, sang country kaya madali un?

Kaya we're confused. We're praying for signs from God.
D kami maka start ng application kasi d namin alam san kami pupunta.

Reply to @stolich18: I agree! I'm not sure if eto pa din requirement. And as far as I know hindi sila nagbibigay ng direct grant ng PR visa kapag pumasa ka. Meron silang tinatawag na work-to-residence muna na valid for 1 year tas kelangan mo makahanap ng work within that year na dapat related sa skills mo. Otherwise, they will not grant you a residence visa. And take note residence visa is hindi pa PR visa. Valid yun for 2 years, and within that 2 years dun ka pa lang pwede mag-apply ng PR. I may be wrong. We considered din kasi applying to NZ before. That was 5 or 6 years ago. Back then sa Bangkok pa ang personal interviews. I suggest isama mo sa pros and cons yung processing ng application.

Nominated Occupation: Software Engineer (261313) - Husband is the primary applicant.

10.21.2012 - Arrived in Melbourne. This is the day that the Lord has made. :)
03.26.2012 - Visa granted. God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good! :)
03.23.2012 - PCC submitted and medicals finalized
03.02.2012 - Application being processed further / CO assigned
    06.26.2011 - Lodged Visa 175 application

@alexamae take into consideration rin na may EOI na rin ang AU starting July 2012. Pero for me better pa rin with them kase mas mabilis sila magbigay tlga ng PR visa as long as nareach mo ung points na kailangan for GSM (General Skilled Migration). Well eto ung case pre-Jul 2012. Yung EOI mo naman nasa SkillSelect database nila yun for 2 years. We'll see kung mas mapapabilis din ang paggrant ng visa kase bka naman gusto lang nila mas organised din ang pagprocess.

From my experience, ang bilis lang tlg ng application namin sa AU. Nagstart ako magbasa basa this Feb lang. Bsta mapakita mo lang lahat ng necessary docs and evidences to prove na you qualify for the points, I think you should be good ;-)

New Zealand could potentially be better in a decade or two kasi sobrang focused sa mining boom ang Australia ngayon at hindi naman pang-habang buhay na tagumpay yun hehe..

But right now, all factors point to Australia: better pay, better job opportunities, better social benefits and many more... hehe

    Hi,

Napansin ko maraming mga Pinoy na taga SG na nag-co-consider to move to Australia dito sa forum, galing din kami Singapore. More than 5 years kami nag-work dun and kakadating lang namin dito early this year. May work na naghihintay nung nag-decide kami pumunta ng wife ko dito kaya madali yung decision to come.
